 油水分离器的作用是将油通过管路或管道流经油水分离器的时候将油和水进行分离。它通过油和水有一定密度差，利用水比油的重这个原理将水沉降将油中的水分离出来。它的内部还有扩散锥，滤网等分离元件以加强油水分离效果。油水分离器一般情况下安装在柴油车上，去除燃油中水分，以降低高压油泵和喷油嘴的故障，延长发动机的使用时间。
